I do not understand the high ratings for the Thompson Beach House as the value is just not there for me. For nearly double the price of the main property you get nothing but a so-called "exclusive" beach. You have to walk to the main property to visit the tiny fitness center ( there's only one treadmill) and to enjoy a pool that can accommodate more than 10 people. The one at the Beach House is very small. Bottled water is $7 usd and the menu at the cgrill restaurant is overpriced and mediocre at best. This property is also directly across from another hotel so you could end up with a room facing the other hotel and the street below. Not much privacy there. If you want in-room service they charge you a service fee AND a delivery fee and you are expected to tip. I do believe that if you don't want the breakfast that's included you also have to walk to Main to get anything else. It feels very disjointed and cumbersome and not like you're getting to enjoy two great properties. The amenities here are just lacking. Also you are paying for a suite but the minibar is not included. You are literally charged for EVERYTHING here. They won't even bring you a glass of water at the restaurant. There are all inclusive hotels 5 minutes away that are half the price of Thompson Beach House and everything you need is on site.

We had a 5 night stay at the Thompson beach house, and to our dismay, the experience was really disappointing. I would recommend travelers to simply come here for a day visit (staff at the resto and pool are really nice and helpful) but overnight elsewhere. For the prices you’re paying, you won’t want to deal with the following-Our shower didn’t have hot water or water pressure. The hotel sent maintenance in 2 days in a row and eventually offered us to move rooms since they weren’t able to fix the issue. When you’re on vacation, unpacking then repacking to just unpack again feels like an unnecessary hassle. We questioned why the hotel didn’t just offer us a different room on the first day.In addition to the shower issue, the AC was broken in our room on the first day, and when they ‘fixed it,’ we had to keep it on a low setting. In our second room, the AC was also not working, so maintenance came to take a look, and they said they fixed the issue. When we got back from dinner, we noticed that there was no way the AC was functioning properly as we were too hot to even get under the covers to sleep. Functioning AC really shouldn’t be optional in 89-95 degree temperatures at the prices you’re paying to stay here. I know this issue isn’t specific to us, because a man from a different floor complained about the same issue to the concierge when I was at the front desk.Lastly, this hotel is EXTREMELY understaffed at the front desk. I had to wait 30 min- 60 min each time we needed anything (eg. to get our rooms switched), because they only have one person helping everyone at the hotel in the lobby.Additionally, the hotel staff is not as knowledgeable about the hotel rooms as the staff in the Thompson’s main hotel (not beach front location). For example, I asked concierge how to locate the switch for the fan (since our AC wasn’t working). She said she didn’t know since my room had been switched. I then called the concierge at the main building to see if someone could help us. The concierge there picked up immediately and helped me identify the switch and even offered to send someone to help me if needed. It’s odd that the concierge in my own hotel location wasn’t as helpful or hospitable (eg. the front desk could’ve offered to find an answer for me from someone else at the hotel).Lastly, the beach is covered in dark, thick seaweed. Although the whole peninsula is struggling from this issue, because this hotel is beachfront, you’re better off staying somewhere that doesn’t smell like seaweed and is further away. You can always go to the beach clubs in Playa del Carmen for the beach, and you’d probably get better value, service and hospitality elsewhere.

Se Hospedaram na suíte de frente para o mar por 2 dias enquanto visitam Playa Del Carmen. Wow as vistas do nosso quarto e varanda eram tão agradáveis ​​que excedeu as nossas expectativas. A varanda também veio com uma banheira de hidromassagem, e havia muita privacidade que nós realmente gostamos. Stayed at the oceanfront suite for 2 days while visiting Playa Del Carmen. Wow the views from our room and balcony were so nice it exceeded our expectations. The balcony also came with a hot tub, and there were plenty of privacy which we really liked. We also had a complementary bottle of champagne, some fruits and chocolate waiting for us in the room when we arrived. I deducted one star due to the lack of amenities at the hotel. We wanted to rent some bicycles to ride around town but were told they are stored at another Thompson property a few blocks away. The hotel also offered free paddle boarding on Saturdays, but it wasn’t available when we were there. Overall, we enjoyed our stay and would highly recommend the oceanfront suite (there are only 3 on the property). If there could be some more amenities added to the hotel, it would be even better.

Amamos esse lugar. Minha esposa e eu viemos aqui no sábado. Refrigerado em um sofá-cama, DJ incrível, serviço incrível, boa comida e bebidas, piscina muito boa e fácil acesso ao mar. Tem que gastar 600 pesos por pessoa, o que não é ruim em comparação com outros pontos. Eu certamente viria aqui de novo.

Loved this place. My wife and I came here on a Saturday. Chilled in a daybed, awesome DJ, amazing service, good food and drinks, really nice pool and easy access to ocean. Have to spend 600 pesos per person which isn't bad compared to other spots. I would definitely come here again.

When i first came to the Thompson beach house i was greeted by Manuel. He is by the far the sweetest, kindest and besr waiter i have met in Playa! Manuel goes above and beyond for customer service and he needs to get a raise. He deserves to have a higher position at Thompson. he is great with people and that is a skill needed at management level! thanks to Manuel i will always come back to Thompson Beach House
