Excelente serviço de restauração, muita simpatia do pessoal dos restaurantes e bar,no entanto para mim perde uma estrela na receção pela pouca amabilidade dos funcionários e mais ainda pelos serviços.A internet dá apenas para 2 aparelhos,tive de pagar mais 33,00€ para ter mais um acesso para 1 semana (Internet no quarto é para esquecer,não há, só na receção ou no bar.. .),transporte apenas para a praia, nada mais,tudo tem de ser por táxi para por exemplo sair para a Quinta Avenida.. . Enfim,tem pouco do que estou habituado na cadeia RIU, onde já estive,em Cabo Verde,República Dominicana e Jamaica.. . A animação é média,espetáculos noturnos sempre só com a prata da casa.. . Alimentação não é 24 horas,há um frigorífico com sandes e umas frutas.. . Apenas o bar trabalha 24 horas.

Se estão indecisos na escolha do Hotel, não optem por este com toda a certeza! Roubaram-nos 1000eur dentro do cofre que estava fechado com código. Na semana em que estivemos lá hospedadas (15 Set - 22 Set) houve 6 casos de roubos dentro do cofre sem arrombamento da porta quarto/cofre.O mais grave no meio disto tudo, dirigimo-nos ao diretor do hotel Sergio Navarro o qual nos disse que não havia sinais de arrombamento, não nos ajudou em nada, ficamos sem dinheiro para nos dirigirmos a polícia local, o hotel nem se dignou a chamarem eles ou a pagar-nos o táxi até lá..Chegamos agora a Portugal e com uma breve pesquisa no Google “Riu Lupita roubos”, encontram várias situações iguais à nossa. Está claro que é o próprio pessoal do hotel que rouba os pertences e tudo o que estiver dentro do cofre dos seus próprios clientes.De referir que o hotel não utiliza chave magnética e sim chave tradicional nos quartos, e esta milagrosamente desaparece sem darmos conta e aparece colocada na fechadura do quarto quando vamos reclamar a recepção. E atenção que falamos com outros clientes e o mesmo aconteceu a eles..Este hotel é mesmo um desastre, não tem segurança nenhuma. Mas o verdadeiro perigo está lá dentro, são os próprios funcionários!NÃO ESCOLHAM ESTE HOTEL! Já viajei para vários destinos e isto nunca me tinha acontecido em lugar algum, muito menos num Hotel dito de 5*.Péssimo!!

Adorei estar neste hotel, é de 5***** mas não é de grandes luxos mas o preço vs qualidade é óptimo. Há muita diversão todas as tardes e à noite há espectáculos lindíssimos. A comida é boa e quem não gosta de buffet há os 3 jantares temáticos por semana. O bar privado do hotel que fica na praia funciona muito bem e tem comida excelente nos jantares temáticos, os trabalhadores de toda a cadeia RIU incluindo o RIU Palace e RIU Tequila são muito simpáticos muito eficientes e céleres a Riviera Maya é para ser repetida de X em X anos. Parabéns a todos os q trabalham na cadeia RIU da Riviera Maya

Staff simpático, boa comida e um espaço agradável. O único "se não" é não ter praia, mas isso é colmatado pelo transporte de 30 em 30 minutos e a distância para a praia é de apenas 10 minutos.

I’m not sure why so many reviews that are not 5 star! This place has been an incredible oasis and all the staff are fabulous and the food delicious! From pool days to beach days this place has it all! So happy to have spent a week here!

Estuve 5 días...y la experiencia fue increíble... Muy buena atención de su personal ...la playa no está cerca, pero hay un bus de acercamiento que sale cada hora...👌🏻 También esta a media hora caminando la famosa Quinta avenida en donde también hay un Coco Bongo

1. La comida muy rico. 2. Cerca de playa del carmen centro, sin problemas puedes llegar desde el aeropuerto en el Ado 3. Contra: sin Playa cerca y los buses se llenan muy rapido sin mantener sana distancia 4. Parece que segun dijeron los meseros, llueve frecuentemente 5. Las habitaciones parecen un poco viejas 6. No se si fue mala suerte pero la alberca estaba super fria. Ni tibia

Pésima experiencia,no lo recomiendo.Sabanas sucias y viejas, pedí que las cambien y tardaron dos días.Imposible encontrar lugar en los restaurantes temáticos,si solicitabas algo extra al personal te atendían mal, especialmente en el de la playa.Las reposeras de la playa la mayoría rotas y sucias ( son de plástico y tela). Las Toallas para la pileta solo te las cambian una por día, en unaoportunidad se nos mojó por la lluvia y el empleado se oponía a darnos una seca porque ya habíamos solicitado.

El maltrato al huésped es increíble. La comida tiene muy poca variedad y no sabe a nada. Todas las instalaciones abandonadas y faltas de mantenimiento. Y no pidan tequila que lo reemplazan con un preparado que es intomable. Un lugar ideal para arruinar unas vacaciones.

Estuve hace 20 años y ha cambiado bastante . La habitación que nos tocó daba a la parte trasera donde había un motor durante toda la noche. El lavabojustito con dispensador de jabóny gel hidroalcoholico pero nada más.Cambio de toallas diarias eso si. El restaurante Buffett estupendo, comida riquissima y variada. El resto de restaurantes no los probamos. Estaban cerrados o completos. Tenias que estar en la puerta para hacer cola antes de las 19h o reservar antes de las 7 h de la mañana. Contratamos con agencia Travel plan. No pudimos asistir a la primera reunión, una pareja que viajaba con nosotros le pregunto al representante de travel plan , Juan, sobre la hora de recogida el día de salida y le dijo que "eso ya lo he explicado y no lo voy a repetir ". Tambiénnos enteramos que dijo que había que pagar tasas de salida de México. Hubo gente que las pagó y otros que no. Luego en el aeropuertoNADIE nos pidiójustificante de pago, nosotrosno pagamos. LO MEJOR DE TODO,EL PERSONAL,un trato excelente y muy profesional.

Me responden que por protocolo, señores fueron 4 reservas 8 PERSONAS , por motivos de trabajo una personano pudo ir. No pudo presentarse ,ni con correo electrónico ni por video llamada lo aceptaron, yo quiero ver qué esto sea para los extranjeros, allí no verdad? Creo que son muy cuadrados inflexibles,JAMÁS REGRESARÉ A ESTE HOTEL DÓNDE AL TURISTA NACIONAL LO TRATAN DE LA FREGADA. Se supone que uds deben hacernos agradables la estancia y no fue nada agradable.Además a todos mis familiares y conocidos y desconocidos diré mi mala experiencia con uds. Créanme.

Very nice community like hotel, Most of it is outdoors and Im not going to lie it adds to the experience.The place is set up more like a gated community then a hotel but with all the hotel perks and amenities!Food is mostly good about a 8/10 (except the pizza :/ i know pizza is on the lower end of food types but i hated the pizza here and sometimes you want to have a simple slice of pizza) Service/staff are amazing and really do there best to take care of youI do wish there was an option to bring your food to your room like the royal carribean but all in all I had a wonderful 7 day stay here!NOTE The beach is not connected to this resort but there is a complimentary bus that runs geusts to the RIU beach every 30 mins.Odd site note....i never got bit by a single mosquito here... I actually never even noticed mosquitos or annoying insects which is odd for a resort outside.Also no Laundry on site so pack big or be prepared to get it done outside. It is reasonbly priced btwAlso download the RIUapp, saves a ron of day 1 confusion

We had a great time staying here with my family, staff is very friendly & courteous. The rooms are ok. Food was good, they always cleaned our rooms. And a huge thanks to Dimir in the reception he really helped us when we arrived super early & with my 8 month old I give him 5 stars he was great.

The furthest thing from a 5 star hotel. It is my first day here and I am greatly disappointed. Based on the pictures I expected more, but believe me they are deceiving. I should’ve looked at the pictures more closely. It is only my first day so I will keep you updated on the days to come.

Um hotel fraquissimo! Não cumpre os requisitos de um hotel de 5 estrelas. Deixa ficar muito mal a rede Riu. O Serviço de recepção foi terrível. À chegada demoramos mais de 1 hora a fazer check in com uma jovem senhora que confundia tudo, tinha zero capacidade de raciocínio e simpatia. Para além disso, não falava Inglês. os quartos são datados, com uma decoração dos anos 90’. As piscinas pequenas e pouco limpas. O pessoal dos restaurantes é simpatico é dedicado. Porém o buffet é de má qualidade e todos os dias as mesmas opções. As bebidas são demasiado açucaradas (talvez para limitar o seu consumo) o que não é de todo recomendado para diabéticos. Muito barulhento. Na praia, as cadeiras e bancos na areia não são limpos... de manhã há restos de comida do dia anterior.... comparando com o Riu Palace mesmo ao lado em que servem os seus clientes, o riu lupita é de facto muito fraco ... só posso acreditar que as pessoas que dão 4 ou 5 estrelas ao hotel ou nunca estiveram num hotel decente ou apenas gostam de encher a barriga, independentmente da qualidade . Resumindo, não recomendo!

This was the worst experience I've ever had staying at a resortinternational. Please don't be fooled by the pictures in the website. This resort is small, the room furniture is outdated. A few nights I needed a blanket and pulled the one out that was in the closet- the blanket hadn't been washed as you could smell someone's perfume on it. My husband and I couldn't watched television. because all of the channels were in Spanish including the subtitles. The staff spoke very limited English which' was a huge problem when trying to convey a problem. While the staff did clean our room and change the linen daily, they did not restock the fridge daily. There's only three restaurants on the resort and the steakhouse requires a reservation; you have to make your reservation at 7am in order to eat there for that evening. I went on Monday morning to make a reservation for Monday evening and they told me the restaurant is closed on Mondays. There is no directory in your room so you have to stop at the front desk if you have questions. There is no iron in the bedroom you have to check that out at the front desk. All of the activities end at 11pm including the bars and restaurants which is not what they advertise on their website. There is no beach on the resort. You will have to take a bus to another resort to go to the beach, likewise there is no spa on the resort, you have to go to another resort for that service. There is noan after hour snack bar on the resort-so if you don't eat before the restaurants close you either have to travel off of the resort to find something or not eat until morning. This resort was a waste of my money and I will not returning. I will also be making a complaint to corporate. Please do your research before going.

It is far from a 5-star hotel. I cannot understand how Riu Lupita Hotel is rated as 5 stars. Worst - 1. front desk personal. Not professional, not friendly, and not willing to solve problems promptly, except 2-3 persons. There is a young lady who does not know what she is doing and does not speak an english word. 2. Poor cleaning especially at beach and swimming pool white furniture. Almost every day were rests of meals from the day before as well as dry drinks on the top of the tables.3. Outdated rooms. 4. diversity and quality of the food served. Not so bad - restaurant staff. They try to be friendly but sometimes are overwhelmed by work. The bus driver to the beach is very friendly and polite. I would not recommend it. I would have preferred to pay a couple more dollars and stayed in a better place. I think that Riu management has to put some thought into be improved. Otherwise, the Riu brand will become seriously damaged.

The personnel is very welcoming, the room is fresh and well cleaned. The territory, swimming pools, meals are great. It's quite comfortable to get to the city centre /beach by bus shuttle. Just be aware that it's not a very top 5 hotel which you could imagine, I'd probably give it 4 stars but it doesn't matter for me much. As summary, I'd recommend that hotel

¡YO NO VOLVERÍA!Dicen que es comida 24hs pero a la noche solo te dan las sobras del día. Los horarios están marcados por la vida de los yankees, tenes que madrugar todos los días y dormir temprano porque no hay nada para hacer de noche (más que el boliche, pero no a todo el mundo le gusta). Las habitaciones no son de lujo, tuvimos que pedir toallas un día porque éramos tres y nos dejaron dos nada más. La comida es variada a veces pero nunca está caliente, excepto que te la hagan en el momento. El micro tiene salidas cada media hora y antes de las siete de la tarde ya no circulan más, si te quedaste en la entrada, tenes que caminar más de 1km.EN RESPUESTA AL COMENTARIO QUE ME HICIERON DEL HOTEL RIU LUPITA:SÍ, HICIMOS LOS RECLAMOS CORRESPONDIENTES CON JOAN Y NO HICIERON ABSOLUTAMENTE NADA PARA MEJORAR NUESTRA ESTADÍA.

Tuve oportunidad de visitarlo durante año nuevo, puedo evaluarlo en términos generales bien, obviamente fue temporada alta y no se si por la saturación pero el personal de recepción podría ser más empáticos, serviciales y ofrecer el trato amable que uno espera recibir cuando se requiere de ellos. Albercas bien ubicadas, agua fresca, comida de los restaurantes muy bien, tienen variedad de desayuno, almuerzo, comida y cenas, meseros también algunos más amables que otros pero en general buena atención. En cuanto a las habitaciones se encuentran bien equipadas, personalmente no me gustaron las almohadas. Para los niños cuentan con un club de niños. Dónde si doy toda mi admiración fue para la cena de año nuevo, hubo una preparación y decoración del lugar y la comida estuvo muy bien, agradecimos el gran esfuerzo que pusieron para esa noche especial. El gerente en turno muy bien siempre al tanto y recibiendo con gran actitud los comentarios de los huéspedes.

Es muy lindo tiene muy buenas instalaciones, hacen unos shows espectaculares en el teatro todas las noches la comida si es cinco estrellas excepto las comidas rápidas o snacks .Lo único malo que tiene es que no tiene playa y siempre está a 7u 8 minutos en el bus que ofrecen como transporte

Very Very Very poor. It’s actually 0 star at all if not because of the room cleaning and staff services. Food and drinks is no good it’s a poison since day one to our last day of stay we been sick. Front desk people are rude not nice at all other than one person Dimar he’s the only nice person in the front. It’s not on the beach, you will get a ride to the beach but people selling drugs out there so stay away. Not good for family not much activities for kids or adults. The whole place smells cigarettes and smoke everywhere. in short stay away. They charges for everything.

We stayed at Rio during Christmas time. They did an amazing job with Christmas decoration, entertainment, and food. It was a good time. Reasonably priced with excellent service and nice staff. Accommodating was nice and clean.

Today is my last day at this resort but I really want to give a shout out to few members of the staff: Dimar(reception) he was wonderful from the moment I arrived at the resort. He remembered who I was and what room I stayed at! Awesome job! Jorge(main restaurant) was the ONLY server that smiled and served us with pleasure. Melissa, Jonathan and Alberto(entertainment) they made my vacation so much better!!! If it weren't for these staff members, my honeymoon would have been ruined! I've been to Mexico 4 times and by far Riu Lupita is the worse resort when it comes to service. They do have nice food though. Definitely wouldn't call this resort 5star. Without the listed staff, I would have given Riu Lupita 1star

La satisfacción más grande el hospedarme aquí, atención/recepción magnifica, buffet, barra, alberca, cancha de tenis, spa, disco, transporte a la playa, servicio de toallas.Nosotros nos hospedamos en este hotel pero tenían el servicio de ir al hotel Tequila y allá podiamos hacer uso de los mismos servicios.Excepto las toallas.Y cuando haciamos check out, llegamos tarde, 2 horas!! Pero nos hicieron cobro de $180 hora extra y como nuestro vuelo salía a las 11 de la noche, nos dejaron guardar nuestro equipaje ahí y nos dieron un pase que incluía todo lo que pagamos por como $1000 hasta las 6pm.Lo recomiendo ampliamente y sin duda, volvería.

Genial! La atencion excelente, y ademas suficiente personal para ello. Trato inmejorable. Super limpio, tanto instalaciones como las habitaciones. Aunque es un hotel renovado, esta muy bien y sin deficiencias. Hemos tenido un par de incidencias las cuales se han resuelto con eficacia y rapidez. Los restaurantes y buffet muy bien atendidos y muy buena calidad. En general un 10. Totalmente recomendable!!!!

las habitaciones ,el resort en sí es precioso ,está ubicado en playacar dentro de playa del Carmen es como una especie de barrio privado custodiado, lo que no me gusta es que tienes transporte interno para llevarte a la playa y es bastante viaje, no calcula el tiempo pero me resultó largo Entonces si un día tienes ganas de ir a la playa y por algo estás apurado olvídate, Porque si vas trotando ocaminando debe ser peor todavía el tiempo, yo fui invitada por unos amigos que estaban allí ,hice un day pass nocturno o sea que pude estar nada más que un ratito en la playa y ya cené y pude ver las actividades, los shows que son muy buenos me tocó el de Michael Jackson y realmente fue increíble, muy bueno el bailarín y el equipo que lo acompañaba ,hacían playback ,pero la verdad era como estar en un recital privado de Michael Jackson ,felicito al grupo que imito a Michael y a sus bailarines

Excelente lugar y excelente Servicio Perooo pésimo la entrada y salida al Hotel, está ubicado dentro de un condominio que tienen acceso otros vehículos y las filas son demoradas. No es nada cómodo que para entrar y salir haya que pasar más de 20 minutos y hasta 40 en espera. Creo que debían tomar acción en ese aspecto, porque verdaderamente está muy lindo y cómodo el hotel!!!

En Riu Lupita es imposible pasarlo mal. Comenzando principalmente por la atención constante, dedicada, con una sonrisa a cada pedido de TODO el personal; siguiendo por la EXCELENTE calidad, cantidad y variedad de comida y bebida y la limpieza y orden de lasinstalaciones. Creo que lo único que deberían revisar, es el acceso de los vendedores en la zona de reposo en la playa. Dan ganas de volver con la familia y los peques.

Hotel bastante antiguo con bastante gente mayor. La comida está buena las habitaciones limpias, pero ya un poco viejas...lo mejor del hotel sus animadores, el 3 día en el buffet con el calienta platos, que en ningún sitio pone que está muy caliente me queme el brazo, se lo dije a recepción, no me hicieron ni caso ni si quiera me dieron una pomada, ni me visito ni el medico....me jodieron las vacaciones que me quedaban y el último día mire si habían puesto algo de advertencia en el calientaplatos.... Y seguía igual...y mira que lo dije mucha veces!

Un buen hotel para pasar unas tranquilas vacaciones.Habitaciones amplias, cómodas, tranquilas y limpias.Un servicio muy correcto.El buffet libre es bastante completo. Cada día está dedicado a diferentes tipos de gastronomía, como la asiática o la mejicana.Las piscinas y el Beach Club están muy bien.Hay un autobús, que aparte de llevarte al Beach Club, también hace parada en Playa del Carmen.La playa no es la mejor que he visto. Las de España son mucho mejores.

Excelente la calidad de la comida, las habitaciones, su limpieza, la atención de todo el personal del hotel, y la animación. Está a unos 40 minutos caminando de la playa,y a unos 25 minutos caminando de playa del Carmen,, pero hotel cuenta con un servicio de bus que te lleva a la playa, y a playa del Carmen.Cuenta con dos piscinas que se quedan un poco pequeñas, pero son suficientes.A mí me gustó mucho y volvería a repetir si estancia en el hotel.

Riu Lupita es un hotel más pequeño que los demás Riu,esto hace q sea más tranquilo .No está a pie de playa pero tiene traslados al club de playa cada 30 minutos ,allí encontramos piscinas , alimentación y licores sin ninguna restricción.La comida es excelente ,el servicio ni se diga,todos están al pendiente de lo que necesitamos,cuenta con shows y animación durante el día .El personal que allí labora es muy cálido y con un Excelente don de servicio,destacó a Davide quien con un gran esmero preparo la cena sorpresa para festejar los 15 años de mi princesa,mil y mil gracias

No conociamos la cadena española RIU, para nosotros lo mas importante antes quemarca fue haber interactuado con su personal tanto en el restaurante, bar, lobby ETC, personas fantasticas como Fidelina, y Gaspar entre otros por ellos volvemos a esta cadena,excelente muy recomendado

El hotel está muy bien y las instalaciones son suficientes para pasar un buen momento. La gente en el hotel es súper amable pero no saben resolver urgencias.Tuvimos un inconveniente con un agua mala en la playa y debimos salir de urgencia del club de playa. Nos recomendaron ir a la habitación desde el servicio de guardavidas. No vimos ningún doctor disponible. Esperando el transporte de vuelta al hotel nos limitaron el servicio de bebidas mientras esperábamos.Fue un momento bastante incómodo, no supieron ni pudieron entender la situación. En la atencion priorizaron siempre otros huéspedes (no uno, muchos). Finalmente nos dieron servicio tras insistir. Era el momento de hacer la diferencia en el trato.Es una eventualidad pero lo pone a uno a pensar en que su atención es ante todo estandarizada y nadie puede ayudar o hacer sentir a alguien cómodo ante eventualidades tan simples y concretas como esta. Nadie fue rudo y se notaba que querían ayudar pero les preocupaban sus supervisores. Para tener en cuenta al momento de elegir, si no quieres sentirte apenas cómo uno más. Y valga destacar que fue en temporada baja, con apenas una ocupación del 60%. Ni hablar de qué será con emergencias mas importantes y con mayor cantidad de gente hospedada.

La limpieza,buena, la atención de algunos integrantes muy buena,las instalaciones basicas. La comida de medio nivel para abajo,no contemplan que en otros paises manejan distintos horarios hay que adaptarse a los horarios de ellos o hacer todo a las corridas.La comida no es 24 horas o por lo menoshasta tarde. No se tiene en cuenta a la gente que toma excursiones,siendo que el hotel tiene comisiones. Debe mejorar mucho.

Muy buena atención. Todo el personal muy cordial y muy bien dispuesto. Hubo algunos inconvenientes que fueron resueltos a la brevedad. Los shows nocturnos muy buenos, las actividades recreativas y la posibilidad de cenar en la playa es otro punto extra. Personal destacado; Omar de recepción y José de animación. Ojalá pueda volver o conocer otro hotel de la cadena.

I’m going to try to be as fair as possible. The resort itself is seems fairly decent, it’s essentially a mini version of what you would expect at an all inclusive resort... the place is very small which for some people is comfortable. However you feel more like you’re at a motel with a pool than an actual resort, considering it’s not cheap to stay here that really sucks. The whole place needs to be remodeled, beds are old, rooms are full of moisture 24/7. My biggest issue, and perhaps my own fault was the fact that the beach was so far away, regardless of the fact they provide free bus rides... it sucks... nobody wants to pay so much to go on vacation just to ride a bus to the beach. The website and even google photos make it seam like the beach is right on the resort and I found that very misleading, do your research before booking a stay here. That was my mistake, I was told by a travel agent it’s a good deal, and I believed it.P.S there is no way this is a 5 star resort... I don’t know where they got that rating from but it’s just a plain lie.

Amazing hotel! Nice quite rooms with airco. Cleaned everyday. Good food with many options and daily changing menu, weekly the same. Many animals walking around the resort which don't harm humans and aren't afraid. The staff is extremely kind and would do anything for us. Nice beach! Second time we visit this place, it became better than the first time. Would consider revisiting it!

We just spent a week here from March 27 2019 to April 3We really enjoyed our stay here. Rooms and property are well kept. Clean quiet and nice green space.They have a wide selection of food to eat. Lots of Mexican. Food was fresh and tasty. Drinks are plentiful and a large selection of cocktailsThe staff were fantastic. They took care of you regardlesss of tipping. We did tip the staff and they really appreciated it. Even the times I had no cash in my pockets they still provid top notch service. One staff member who did an awesome job was our waiter Rubin. Always a smile and took care of us very wellThe property is not on the beach and requires a 15 to 20 min bus ridebus leaves the hotel on the half hour 12&6 and returns to hotel on the 9&3. At the beach they have a bar/restaurant. Service here was also excellent. This place turns into a steak house at night but you have to make a reservation. No one told us this until we were a day before leaving.so can t give an opinion on the placeNow on the negative side but no big deal in my opinion but some improvements that could be made.In the main area of the resort there was only one toilet next to the bar. No toilets in restaurantsEntertainment was decent in the evening but in the day it was lacking other than the one dat they had a bubble party in the pool. My sister was here before and felt they cut back on the entertainmentThis is not a big resort but it’s well kept and enjoyable. I will return. I have not been to Mexico in a long time but it left a positive impression on me. I at no time felt unsafe or worried about our safety. The merchants can be a bit aggressive but I’m ok with that. Resort is advertised as a 5 star hotel. I’d be curious how this was rated because at best, this is a 3 star hotel.Hotel is located in a residential area, near a golf course. Area felt safe. Walked quite a bit as shuttle service ends at 6:45pm. Although we knew that the beach was about 3 kilometers away, it’s an inconvenience to take the shuttle. Shuttle runs every half hour, often late. Ride is very bumpy. There is no towel service at the beach, so make sure you get a towel prior to going. This also means that you have to bring your wet towel back on the shuttle. There was a lot of seaweed at the beach.There are several common areas at the resort. Only one bar. Drinks are made with little alcohol. In fact, when ordering a mixed drink ask for the alcohol. Smoking is allowed in the common areas. If you don’t like being around smoke, this is not the place for you.Buffet food was good. However, wait staff ignored our table and never provided water or coffee. Had to get ourselves.WiFi is only available in the common areas. WiFi kept disconnecting.Entertainment at night was good.

I had made a name switch with the hotel reservation “specialist,” and at check-in, they told me that there was no name change found in their system. The people that came with me could not get their room keys and had to waste their time waiting in the lobby for the issue to be resolved. The only reason I gave it one star was because we were allowed to get food while they fixed their mistake, but nonetheless, their incompetence speaks volumes. Check-in was at 15:00 and it took 1.5 hours to get everything straightened out. Would I ever come back? Probably not.I will see how the rest of the week goes and edit my review if I see improvements in service.

The moment my group and I arrived we were given an envelope with our room assignment,I had made a guest change a month in advance and the changes were not made, once I stepped up to the reception the lady told me that she needed the people on the envelope, I told her that two of those people did not come and that another guest and myself came in their place, then the receptionist repeated loudly and slowly that she needed the people who were on the envelope talking to me like if I was stupid. So then I repeated what I said earlier in the same "stupid" tone the receptionist used, except louder than her. The lady then continued to say that the change in the reservation could not "just" be edited right then and there. I told her that that change was made over a month in advance, I even had a confirmation e-mail to prove it, but they still did not resolve the issue for another 90 minutes. Later that week, I noticed how the staff preferred serving the caucasian people, in more than one occasion they refilled the table next to us several times before returning to where my family was sitting, not even 3 ft away. The mini bar was supposed to be refilled every 2 days, not once did they refill the mini bar. We had to help ourselves to clean towels for our room. They only cleaned our room 2 times in 5 days. On one occasion, the night club was scheduled to open at 11 P.M., however it took about 20 minutes to get the music started and another 30 for the bar to open. This hotel needs to have buses running 24hrs, so that their guests can enjoy the 5th Avenue night life. Also, their beach club could have towel services to accommodate their valued guests, and not have them carry wet towels back to the hotel. Overall. *is what this experience has earned from my family.I will never go back to such poor service and arrogant staff.(Not all of them, just the ones that attended my family and I).

The worst resort we have ever been. We've been at 20+ at least. Please read to avoid disappointment.There is no waiter service anywhere in the hotel - at the pool, at the beach or any other place. They only picked up empty glasses, but if you want a drink you will have to go to the bar and order it yourself.Rooms are small compared to other resorts or other RIU resorts.There was a heavy smell of chemicals upon arrival in the room, so we have to open doors and windows to get rid of it.Pools are very small compared to other resorts I’ve been.Some non-resort type hotels in the US have bigger pools.There was a slight sewer smell is all over the property during our stay, in some parts it smelled really bad.Beach is dirty, you’ll see a lot of plastic cups and other trash on the sand and seaweed in the water. The staff doesn't care about empty plastic cups on the beach. I even saw how hotel lifeguard kicked empty cup and walked away.There was cracked glass on pathways at some spots and other garbage on the grass.Most food looked so unattractive and the buffet has a little variety.One day the hotel was audited by RIU and if felt like it another resort. Variety became twice better, better service, etc. That day everything was much better than a day before or after. It was the only day when it was good.We visited their Mexican and Italian restaurant, both of them wasn't good. Mexican was awful(we really like Mexican food and eat it at least once per week) and Italian was mediocre.This hotel was far away from the beach and you have to take a shuttle bus.We didn't know that and it was a big big disappointment. We asked a guy at the front desk how long is the walk to the beach and he said approximately 30 minutes, so we decided to give it a try.Probably he never walked there. It took us 65 minutes to get to the beach, even we're experienced hikers and walk fast.There are no beach towel service at the beach, so you have to bring it all the way from the hotel by yourself.They have a bike rental for 9 US dollars per day(most resorts provide bikes for free),but the catch was their "full day was only from 8.30 to 3pm. In the rest of the world it called - "half day rental", and the worst part you have to wait at least 30 minutes while some person will arrive and unlock the bikes (the person outside of the hotel)Wi-fi signal is very poor and worked only in public areas,so if you will have to do some business for few hours during your stay it may be a problem.If it was our first time at RIU resort it would be our the last for sure. This resort sucks and doesn't have any similar to other RIU resorts.We stayed at Riu Tequilla and Riu Yucatan before and had a great experience.Of course, I won't recommend this resort to anybody.

Un chico que termina siendo un grandeToda una sorpresa agradable haber elegido este hotel para vacacionar. Implicaba una decisión importante, pues es un hotel fuera de la línea de playas.Como siempre trataremos de contar aspectos positivos y a mejorar, según nuestro punto de vista.El hotel se encuentra lindero al golf club, lo que enmarca un clima de tranquilidad muy saludable.La recepción es pequeña, nada que ver con la majestuosidad de la de los otros RIU de Playacar.Las habitaciones predominan en planta baja, muy importante para gente mayor.En nuestro caso era una habitación especial, impecable, por lo que mucho no puedo opinar de lo normal en este hotel.La limpieza de habitaciones está bien aunque no esmerada.Frigobar, dicen que lo recargan cada 48 hs. Pues no es así, solo lo recargaron dos veces en diez días y una de ellas a nuestro pedido. Tampoco tienen máquina de hielo.Algo muy importante y para destacar es el servicio de traslado al club de playa. Impecable, cada media hora un bus pasa por la parada en la recepción, el trayecto es de 15 minutos, y hace una pausa en la quinta avenida.Contrario a nuestros temores, el tener un club de playa nos resultó muy bueno y ordenado. Una vez pasado el desayuno uno va a la playa, dondeestá todo cerca, playa, reposeras, piscina, y restaurante. Uno camina poco y aprovecha el día a full. El ambiente es tranquilo.Luego regresa al hotel a cenar, o hace una pausa para caminar o ir de compras en la quinta avenida.El hotel tiene dos piscinas, una en un área de relax. Genial.Hay otro sector para dejar los niños que incluye una piscina pequeña.Restaurantes. Uno principal y dos temáticos, Méxicano e Italiano,sin necesidad de reserva previa. Cómodos. El menú normal, nada majestuoso y los postres pesimos, como nos ocurrió también en los otros RIU. Se ofrece una cena en el club de playa que no es recomendable. Ni la comida ni el servicio vale la pena.Wi-fi gratis en áreas comunes y playa con buena señal. Sólo dos conexiónes por habitación, así que si son tres pasajeros empiezan los problemas. No entiendo realmente si actualmente internet es un servicio escencial, por qué no dan una conexión por pasajero y en toda el área del hotel.Los espectáculos son buenos y variados. El servicio de animación deja que desear, especialmente el que está en el club de playa.Pedí acceso a una computadora para revisar un documento de trabajo y descubrí que no tienen para pasajeros ni una disponible, y eso que hay un cartel en recepción que indica un salón para internet.Las grandes fortalezas son el director Sergio, el capitán del restaurante William, la jefa de recepción Karen, el responsable del bar Rodolfo. Brillantes, lo mejor que hemos visto en nuestras visitas a varios RIU.El problema es que sus segundas líneas (subdirectores, subcapitán, empleados de comedor, bar y recepción) se ven con poca experiencia y deberán aprender mucho de tan buenos jefes.Tampoco hay información accesible de cómo comportarse antes un sismo o maremoto ni claros lugares seguros de encuentro. Peor aún al estar categorizado este hotel como un refugio ante una emergencia.Decididamente recomendamos este hotel y regresaríamos.Y el no estar en línea de playa está muy bien resuelto.Un último consejo, cuidado cuando caminen por la quinta avenida, hay vendedores callejeros que les dicen que son camareros del RIU Lupita, una mentira, miran la pulsera y así tratan de atraer clientes. No les presten atención directamente.Espero los del Lupita hagan los ajustes necesarios y sigan creciendo.

Por mucho uno de los mejores hoteles en los que he estado, el personal muy amable en todos lados, no puedo mencionar ni una solo persona que no sea atenta. La comida muy buena, mucho mejor que en otros lados, en general es un excelente hotel muy recomendable, es el más económico de los Riu en la zona y superó en gran medida mis expectativas. Con gusto regreso en la primera oportunidad. Los shows nocturnos, muy bonitos de primer nivel. Totalmente adecuado para ir con la familia o con amigos. Hay diversión para todos.

I would have given five stars, but the person that arranges excursions made me feel pressured when my wife and I had booked an activity ahead of time online.He tried to insist that we tell him who we booked our activity through and to see our receipt.I finally told him that he didn't need to see anything, and to leave us alone.All other staff at the resort were polite and attentive.

Riu Lupita is a great place. But lets keep in mind that a lot of people here are racist as soon as they know you are coming from America, (mind you I am HISPANIC).I was sitting by the bar at 1:00am, and the bartender commented how "american people think that they can come to Mexico and do whatever they want." only because I said, it will be nice to have a little music at the bar since many young people are awake at this time drinking." I think this was SO RUDE, and it is one of the reasons I will not return.. I will not mention the rest of the rude things they said, because I am Spanish myself, but it made me really uncomfortable to be on what I thought would be an awesome vacation and being treated in such a manner..Also, if you are looking for good night entertainment for YOUNG adults this is not the hotel for you. AT ALL. Seriously. This is basically for older people with children, who just want to go on vacation and be bored and relaxed. So STAY AWAY if you are looking for a fun resort in Playa Del Carmen.On a good note - the food was AMAZING and the snack bar was always stocked with good fresh food. At times you can tell they would heat up a lot of the foods from the night before, but if you don't mind that then is okay!I will not be coming to this hotel again, but if you are a family with young children and want to literary just relax, then definitely go to this hotel :)

Booked last minute with tui all inclusive paid peanuts compared to those who booked ahead and planned ....the hotel is lovely... food is well varied im fussy and found 3 resturants on site with so much choice ...themed nights also staff super polite ...very clean and attentive would definitely book again .. just remeber when arriving this is a good 4 star ...and we are welcomed and very safe here ....beach is amazing too ....snacks unlimited drinks unlimited even at our private beach !!!

Nice hotel which we would rate as a 3.5 star hotel rather than the 4.5 that the website quoted when we booked. It is about 2km from the Quinta avenida (Fifth Avenue) of Playa del Carmen. It is not on the beach. You must take a shuttle to get to the beach. The shuttle is every 30 min and takes about 15-20 min to the beach club entrance, from which you must then walk a good 5 min to the beach club. This same shuttle also drops off and picks up at Quinta avenida (where all the restaurants and shopping for Playa del carmen). The shows at night were great. Animation by the pool was pretty good. Animation at the beach could be better. Food was quite good, with some theme nights sometimes at the main buffet restaurant. There are also Italian, Mexican and steakhouse restaurants you can eat at. Rooms were nice and clean, with minifridge which contained soft drinks and water. There was alcohol in the rooms also. The bar offered a wide variety of drinks with much more than just the basic alcohols. The drinks were all super sweet though!

We just got back from this resort yesterday. Overall our experience was great. The resort is small, but we really like that. We never had trouble getting a drink or finding a table to sit. Room was clean with good air conditioning. You basically can walk to anywhere in the resort within minutes. Food was really good across the board. The steak house at the beach was our favorite. They have WiFi in the lobby and by the pools that is very fast. Every employee was polite and professional. One thing I saw people complaining about was the fact that the beach is about 10 minutes from the resort and you have to take a shuttle there. This was not a big deal for us. The shuttle runs every 30 minutes and even stops at the local town on the way called 5th ave. This place is really safe and deff a good spot to visit if you are looking to get out of the resort. They have tons of restaurants and shops. The location of this resort is very safe and in a very popular tourist area. Would love to stay at this resort again

Location is great, very nice resort. Rooms are spacious and very clean. The mattresses are very firm, which I am used to anyway. Service is very good, all of the staff are very nice, prompt and enjoy serving their guests. The resort is not on the beach but there is a shuttle that brings you to a private beach every 30 mins with a pool and a buffet and to the town.

Great hotel and great staff team. All the staff are very nice and smiley (it feels natural and genuine).We had one of our best holiday ever in Riu Lupita.Pros:- delicious food, good variety, food not the same everyday- nice restaurants: main restaurant, mexican, italian and beach steak house (my big favourite!)- good air conditioner and fan in rooms, we actually had enough using the fan and it was really hot outside- very very very nice waiters and waitresses- I loved the night entertainment every night at 9:45 with different shows (We stayed 12 days and never saw the same one twice)- very nice entertainment team offering games and activities during the dayThe only downsides that I can think of are:- old fashioned rooms (I think with some damp or humidity issues) Nice, new bathroom and great shower though- bed sheets and towels had a weird smell even though they were clearly clean- of course the fact that you need to get a bus shuttle 20 min long to get to the beachI will definitely come back!

August 12 Stayed at LupitaAre you planning to stay at Lupita ??? Garbage place ... Pool is not clean slippery, litter all over the place. Staff is nice, Room Keys break down lock doesnt work. Old property needs millions of dollars of renovation. BEACH ?? there is shuttle takes you from the property to the Beach every 1/2 hour until I belive 5:00 no entertainment. But food is acceptable. If you have not changed your mind yet I promise you will regret... Good Luck

Destination Wedding, beautiful area that is a mix of hotels and private condos. 27/7 video monitored security for Playa Car area.Went jogging in the morning easily mixing with other joggers and bicyclists.All-inclusive hotel, friendly customer service.Reception personnel are awesome - there isn't anything thru can't do!Karen in particular!!! I forgot my backpack in the lobby when I checked-out and she got it to me at the airpirt in time to catch my flight home!!

Amazing hotel. Maybe it is not the newest place but very clean and well maintained. Thepersoneel is very friendly and very helpful. Food is fresh and delicious! Truly recommend this place. It is nota big resort but it makes it even nicer because there is not much crowd around swimming pools or in restaurants.

Outstanding !Delicious Food. Kind staff and service ! Clean Rooms and well maintained.This hotel isn´t directly at the beach, a shuittle bus will bring you to the beach of the other Riu Hotel (1,5km approximately) each hour. But you can park your car for free at both Riu Hotels.

Lovely quieter hotel. The food is fantastic and the staff are lovely. My only slight criticism is the air conditioning which is inadequate. The hotel is not directly on the beach but has a free shuttle bus every 30 minutes to take you the 5 minute drive . The beach is private and has its own bar and food.

This place is very nice. The atmosphere is amazing and they ensure to always keep you fed and full of taquila. The people here are very nice and hospitable. They speak basic English but if you say too much at once, you may lose them. The managers all speak advanced English so that helps.

Very nice buffet and friendly staff. There's nightly entertainment and pool activities. It feels like a fairly safe area. Downsides are no internet in the rooms and a 10 minute bus ride to the beach. In January the pool was too cold for most people to enjoy.

To be honest I had a lovely time here, but it was in spite of the reception and dining. I actually felt like they didn't like the British. Reception were rude and they lied and cockroaches in the main restaurant which really put me off, saw three over 4 days. The bar was fabulous though.

Hotel todo incluido enPlayaCar. El hotel tiene dos piscinas, varios restaurantes y Buena animación. Aunque no está en primera línea de playa , tiene una lanzadera que cada media hora te acerca al BeachClub que tiene en la playa. Allí puedes pasar el día tiene un buffet de comida y aseos limpios. Recomendable para tus vacaciones.

El hotel es muy cómodo y el personal es excelente. Le doy 4 estrellas por los siguientes motivos: no tiene wifi en las piezas, si en las áreas comunes que funciona excelente pero se supone que si pagas un all inclusive deberia venir incluido.

Es un hotel pequeño pero acogedor, con servicio todo incluido, para el cual la calidad es muy buena, no está a pie de la playa pero si cuenta con un club de playa el cual te brinda servicio de snacks, bebidas y baños. El hotel Riu Lupita es económico en comparación de otros Riu, el personal impecable, yo sin duda alguna volvería.

El complejo del hotel es grande, las habitaciones muy limpias, amplias y con vista hacia las áreas verdes; está rodeado de mucha naturaleza. Hay muchas actividades para realizar dentro del complejo a lo largo del día. No está en la playa, hay un autobús que hace el traslado cada 30 minutos.
